1. Please describe briefly how the Japan Foundation Fellowship experience influenced your career.

Answer: It supported a very important year of my research for my dissertation on Kitahara Hakushu. The Japan Foundation representative, Mr. Sugihara, was extremely helpful in setting up my research position at Ritsumeikan that eventually led to my getting a full-time job there.
