Optional Inquiry:
1. Please describe briefly how the Japan Foundation Fellowship experience influenced your career.

Answer: Provided grant support at a critical juncture, early in my career. These fellowships are essential to keep Japanese studies alive.

2. The Japan Foundation is planning to create a network or forum among past Japan Foundation fellows. Please let us know if you have any suggestions in terms of themes, format, etc.

Answer: To be honest, I am super-busy; I have a family as well as a demanding job. I do not have time to participate in a network or forum of past Japan Foundation fellows -- to me, participating in the AAS and being on the editorial board of the JJS are the most effective way of networking with former JF fellows!
