Optional Inquiry:
1. Please describe briefly how the Japan Foundation Fellowship experience influenced your career.

Answer: The Japan Foundation Fellowship has been absolutely central to my career. Because my dissertation involves looking at many materials that are not readily available in U.S. libraries or in digital form, the Fellowship has provided me the opportunity to access rare materials at Japanese libraries and archives. It has also been invaluable to have the chance to study at a Japanese university and experience the Japanese graduate classroom and attend various Japanese academic conferences.

2. The Japan Foundation is planning to create a network or forum among past Japan Foundation fellows. Please let us know if you have any suggestions in terms of themes, format, etc.

Answer: It may be interesting and helpful to create a forum or some type of digital/online network to share tips and methods in the actual writing up of the dissertation and in also preparing and giving conference presentations and job talks.
