Answer: I am a Professor of Education and International Affairs and currently head of the Educational Policy Studies Department at the Pennsylvania State University. I am also the editor of The American Journal of Education. My latest book,with Motoko Akiba is Improving Teacher Quality: The U.S. Teaching Force in Global Context (Teachers College Press, 2009). My last book on Japanese issues, with Becky Fukuzawa,was Intense Years: How Japanese Adolescents Balance School, Work and Friends (Routledge/Farmer Press).
