Answer: A. Yes, I am engaged in Japanese Studies at a university or research institution.

Field of Study: Philosophy & Religion

Answer: I teach courses on Asian Religions, Religion and Globalization, and the Anthropology of Religion.

Answer: YES

Optional Inquiry:
1. Please describe briefly how the Japan Foundation Fellowship experience influenced your career.

Answer: I received a JF research grant for my first sabbatical in 2006. As a result of this opportunity, I am now finishing a book on that research topic. Without the assistance from the Japan Foundation, I would have been unable to develop this project to the full extent needed (and would probably be working on it for another five years instead of being ready to publish a book in 2011).

2. The Japan Foundation is planning to create a network or forum among past Japan Foundation fellows. Please let us know if you have any suggestions in terms of themes, format, etc.
