1. Please describe briefly how the Japan Foundation Fellowship experience influenced your career.

Answer: Fellowship support from the Japan Foundation was crucial for carrying out extended fieldwork for my doctoral dissertation. I also won a Fulbright (DDRA) award, but took the Japan Foundation support because it was paid in Yen and therefore would not be affected by fluctuations in the exchange rate during my time in the field.

2. The Japan Foundation is planning to create a network or forum among past Japan Foundation fellows. Please let us know if you have any suggestions in terms of themes, format, etc.
