Answer: D. No, I am not engaged in Japanese Studies at all.

2. Please describe what you are currently doing. (If you have your own website or any relevant site, provide its URL.)

Answer: I teach acting and playwriting. I make theater pieces which I tour. I am writing a book on acting referencing the Dao De Ching.

3. Where did you acquire your most advanced Japanese language training for your research?

Answer: NO

Optional Inquiry:
1. Please describe briefly how the Japan Foundation Fellowship experience influenced your career.

Answer: I lived in Japan for nine months devising a new theater piece with an experimental Japanese theater. The collaboration was demanding. I forged a better awareness of my own process. In Japan I sat at a Soto Zen temple and acquired habits I maintain to this day. The Zen sense of awareness has permeated my teaching.

2. The Japan Foundation is planning to create a network or forum among past Japan Foundation fellows. Please let us know if you have any suggestions in terms of themes, format, etc.

Answer: I would be interested in participating in a network of artists who have strong interests in Japanese culture.
