1. Are you enaged in Japanese Studies?

Answer: A. Yes, I am engaged in Japanese Studies at a university or research institution.

Field of Study:

2. Please describe what you are currently doing. (If you have your own website or any relevant site, provide its URL.)

Answer: In the coming semester, I will teach two courses, including Japanese Law, at Temple University Japan. I am working on an empirical study of the reaction of common citizens in Japan and the US to accident scenarios.

3. Where did you acquire your most advanced Japanese language training for your research?

Answer: A. I learned it at a university. (University of Chicago)

4. Have you ever participated in the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme?

Answer: NO

Optional Inquiry:
1. Please describe briefly how the Japan Foundation Fellowship experience influenced your career.

Answer: The support was crucial. It enabled me to spend a month in Tokyo, during which I was able to interview dozens of people involved in internet defamation cases and legal advising. This enabled me to publish an article in the University of Colorado Law Review.

2. The Japan Foundation is planning to create a network or forum among past Japan Foundation fellows. Please let us know if you have any suggestions in terms of themes, format, etc.

Answer: I think it is a great idea. A Facebook page might be a good way to link people since people in different disciplines may know each other only casually, if at all.
