Answer: A. Yes, I am engaged in Japanese Studies at a university or research institution.

Answer: I teach modern and pre-modern Japanese History to undergraduate students. I also teach Asian Women's History and Asian-American History.

3. Where did you acquire your most advanced Japanese language training for your research?

Answer: A. I learned it at a university. (Yale University & Osaka University)

Answer: I was able to do research in Japan on Japan Foundations Fellowships in 1976 and 1982.
