INSTITUTIONAL PROJECT SUPPORT

To encourage innovative projects which emphasize institution building and sustainable contributions to the field of Japanese Studies in the US, the Japan Foundation is providing support to colleges, universities (or a consortia of colleges and universities), and academic organizations that play a central role in Japanese studies.

The IPS program was started in 2008 in order to stimulate and respond to substantial initiatives in Japanese Studies in the US. In the third round of screenings in 2011, eight projects were selected at a total of approximately $1,994,685 over a three-year period.
