To deepen the understanding of Japan and to maintain good relations between Japan and the United States, aid is granted through fellowships for research in Japan and through diverse grant programs for Japanese studies organizations.

 

Fellowships

 

In order to promote Japanese Studies, this program provides support to outstanding scholars in Japanese Studies by providing the opportunity to conduct research in Japan.

 

 

Institutional Project Support Program (IPS)

 

The Japan Foundation is providing support to colleges, universities (or a consortia of colleges and universities), and academic organizations that play a central role in Japanese studies.

American Advisory Committee (AAC)

 

The AAC comprises of distinguished scholars from various cultural and educational institutions across the United States.

 

 

Japanese Studies Survey

The Japan Foundation conducts surveys of the overall status of overseas Japanese studies on occasion and surveys of overseas Japanese studies institutions every fixed period.

JFNY Grant for Japanese Studies

 

This grant aims to support projects that will enhance further understanding of Japan through academic exploration.

Association for Asian Studies (AAS)

 

The Japan Foundation participates at the Annual Conference of Association for Asian Studies to further promote Japanese Studies.
