The Japan Foundation New York Office conducts academic Japanese studies grant programs in the U.S., including research and doctoral fellowships and institutional grants. In addition, the office coordinates and provides support for a wide range of arts and culture related programs and projects.
Performing Arts Japan
The Performing Arts JAPAN (PAJ) program was founded in 1994 to establish a system for promoting Japanese performing arts in the United States. The PAJ program supports the initiatives taken by U.S. nonprofit organizations to provide geographically diverse American audiences with greater exposure to Japanese performing arts. PAJ also encourages collaborations between American and Japanese artists, which will foster an appreciation of Japanese culture when performed before American audiences.

JFNY Grants:
The Japan Foundation New York (JFNY) administers two grant programs in-house with applications accepted on a rolling basis: the JFNY Grant for Arts and Culture, and the JFNY Grant for Japanese Studies. The grants are awarded to programs which foster an understanding of Japan in either an academic or cultural regard.
