Announcing the start of the JET Memorial Project

The Japan Foundation Center for Global Partnership (CGP) announces the launch of the “JET Memorial Project” to commemorate the two American JET participants, Ms. Taylor Anderson and Mr. Montgomery Dickson who lost their lives during the Great East Japan Earthquake. CGP will support various activities at their respective alma maters for 5 years, with the intent of furthering the younger generation’s understanding of Japan. Activities for Year 1 of the Taylor Anderson Memorial Project have been outlined details on the Montgomery Dickson Memorial Project are forthcoming.

Registration for New JF Japanese Language Course (Winter 2012) Now Open!

The Japan Foundation, New York and The Nippon Club are now accepting registrations for JF Japanese Language Course (Winter 2012).


This original Japanese language and culture course is based on the Japan Foundation’s “JF Standard,” which focuses on what and how well learners can do things in practical settings by using Japanese. Learn real-life Japanese through hands-on exercises and firsthand materials! Experience Japanese culture – calligraphy, popular music, films, manga/anime, origami (paper folding), chopsticks training, etc.! For beginner through intermediate learners, we provide weekday afternoon/evening and Saturday classes.

Hot Pepper, Air Conditioner, and the Farewell Speech (Jan 4 – 15, New York, NY, Jan 19 – 21, Minneapolis, MN)

North American tour of chelfitsch’s award-winning production of Hot Pepper, Air Conditioner, and the Farewell Speech, will be presented as part of the Walker Art Center’s OUT THERE Festival, and Under the Radar Festival. Hot Pepper, Air Conditioner, and the Farewell Speech is supported by The Japan Foundation through the Performing Arts JAPAN program.

Heart of Echizen: Wood Fired Works by Contemporary Masters (Jan 13 – Feb 10, Bridgewater, MA)

The Japan Foundation is proud to support this exhibition showcasing works by eleven contemporary master potters from Echizen City (Fukui Prefecture) who use the traditional wood kiln to create their work.

Announcing the new cohort for the U.S. Japan Network for the Future Program

After a successful inaugural program, the Japan Foundation Center for Global Partnership (CGP) and The Maureen and Mike Mansfield Foundation, are pleased to announce the selection of a new group of participants for the “U.S.-Japan Network for the Future” program. Network participants will participate in a two-day workshop in Washington, D.C. (January 2012); a week-long meeting in Washington, D.C. (June 2012); a two-day retreat in Montana (Autumn 2012); a week-long Japan study trip (June 2013); and a January 2014 public symposium and current issues panel discussion.
