The Yokosuka Council on Asia-Pacific Studies (YCAPS) presents a weekly webinar series on Japanese culture and society, Getting to Know Japan Series.

Dr. Andrea Pressello (Associate Professor at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies, Tokyo) will deliver an introductory webinar on Japanese history from 1868-1945, discussing the highlights of this pivotal era.

Speaker

Andrea Pressello is Associate Professor at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS), Tokyo. He obtained his Ph.D. in International Relations from GRIPS. His area of research is the history of Japanese diplomacy towards Southeast Asia during the Cold War period. His publications include Japan and the Shaping of Post-Vietnam War Southeast Asia: Japanese Diplomacy and the Cambodian Conflict, 1978-1993 (Routledge, 2018) and “Japanese peace diplomacy on Cambodia and the Okinawa reversion issue, 1970”, Japan Forum (2021).
